How Much Does Landscape Lighting Installation Cost?

Professional landscape lighting installations at Blingle of Plano generally start at $2,500 for a very basic front-of-home design. A foundational installation for a typical 2,500–3,000-square-foot home in the Dallas–Fort Worth area often falls between $8,000 and $12,000. Larger homes and more extensive designs can range from $12,000 to $50,000.

That’s a wide range because the cost depends on what you want to light and how you want it to look. Your home’s square footage helps start the conversation, but the design determines the price.

Landscape Lighting Budget Ranges in DFW

Based on our installations, here are useful starting points for planning a budget:

Home size or project scope

  Typical installation budget

Basic front-of-home design for a three-bedroom home

  Starting around $2,500

Foundational lighting for 2,500–3,000-square-foot home

  $8,000–$12,000

Lighting for a larger, 3,500–5,000-square-foot home

  $12,000–$20,000

Lighting for a home of 6,000 square feet or more

  $18,000–$50,000

These are planning ranges for Blingle of Plano projects, rather than fixed prices based on home size. A larger home with a focused front-yard design can cost less than a smaller property with extensive trees, outdoor living spaces, and other features to illuminate.

What Does the Installation Price Include?

A foundational landscape lighting design typically focuses on the front of your home. That includes the home’s facade, nearby flower beds and foliage, uplighting for front-yard trees, and lighting for the walkway. Specific backyard focal points can also be part of the scope.

Our installations include the lighting fixtures, a transformer that steps household voltage down to low voltage, buried wiring, and a timer or app to control when the lights turn on and off. We primarily use low-voltage LED lighting to create a warm, soft glow on the features we want to highlight.

We also include an initial Blingle Care Plan for the first year, because keeping a lighting design looking good requires attention after installation.

What Has the Biggest Effect on Cost?

Three questions guide the design: What do you want to highlight? What makes sense to highlight? And how should we light it?

Consider a live oak, a familiar feature throughout North Texas. A few uplights can illuminate part of its canopy. Lighting more of that canopy takes more fixtures. Adding downlights in the tree creates another effect: light on the ground with shadows from the branches.

If that tree is near a walkway or driveway, downlighting may also illuminate those surfaces in place of separate path lights. The design considers how each light contributes to the overall result.

Address plates, ornamental trees, distinctive plants, fire pits, seating areas, benches, and pergolas can all add to the scope. The number and type of fixtures needed to light those features affect the final price.

A Real Example: 16 Lights for Approximately $7,500

We recently worked with a North Texas homeowner whose two-story, 3,500-square-foot home sits on roughly one-third of an acre. Their goal was to bring the front of the property to life at night, including the facade, flower beds, two trees, and the walkway from the sidewalk to the house.

The installation included:

  • Seven lights for the home and front flower beds.

  • Two additional lights highlighting specific flower-bed features.

  • Four in-ground well lights—two per tree—to uplight the canopies.

  • Three downlights in the trees to illuminate the walkway.

The total was 16 lights for roughly $7,500. This project came in below our typical range for homes of that size because it had a focused scope. It’s a useful example of why square footage alone cannot tell you what your installation will cost.

Why Can Quotes Differ So Much?

When comparing proposals, look at the design, the equipment, the people installing it, and the service afterward.

At Blingle of Plano, outdoor lighting is what we do year-round. Our leaders hold certifications through the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals, including Certified Outdoor Lighting Designer (COLD) and Certified Low Voltage Lighting Technician (CLVLT) credentials.

Our full-time employees handle landscape lighting designs and installations. Proper fixture placement, wiring, and an understanding of voltage drop all matter to how the system looks and performs. We are fully insured, and we select quality fixtures and components from established suppliers.

We also remain your point of contact. The company that designs and installs your lights is the company you call for repairs and maintenance. We don’t subcontract that work to non-Blingle contractors.

What Should You Budget for After Installation?

Landscape lighting needs maintenance because the landscape changes. Plants grow, fixtures may need to be adjusted or moved, and lenses collect dust that can affect the light output.

Our Blingle Care Plan addresses those needs. The initial plan is included for the first year, and we encourage customers to renew afterward. Renewal is an ongoing cost to discuss when reviewing your proposal.

Low-voltage LED systems typically have a modest impact on electricity costs; the actual amount depends on the system’s wattage, operating hours, and your electricity rate.

The fixtures we use carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 5 to 20 years, depending on the product. Our service works in conjunction with those warranties. If a fixture fails during its applicable warranty, we handle the repair or replacement and work with the manufacturer. You call Blingle of Plano rather than navigating the manufacturer’s process yourself. Your proposal and warranty terms explain the coverage for your installation.

Can You Install Landscape Lighting in Phases?

Yes. We are sensitive to budgets and can design a whole-home lighting project to be installed in phases.

We can also review the design together and remove lights to reduce the initial cost. We explain what that changes: a feature may receive less light, or an area may remain unlit until a later phase. That helps you make an informed choice about where to spend your budget first.

We also offer financing packages, including a 12-month same-as-cash option with zero interest when the balance is paid in full within 12 months. Ask us for the current financing terms and details before choosing that option.

How Do You Get an Accurate Quote?

Most of our design consultations are free. Our lighting designer meets with you, walks the property, and listens to what you want to accomplish.

We also consider the view from inside your home. Looking out through your windows can reveal trees, landscape features, or outdoor spaces you would enjoy seeing after dark. Those perspectives are an important part of the design.

For most initial meetings, we can show you a design and provide a quote. Larger projects may require additional design work and a second meeting. Occasionally, a project requires a paid design engagement; most homeowner consultations do not.
