Gemstone vs. Govee — Part 3: What DIY Can’t Do That A Pro System Can

In Part 1, we compared specs and install models. In Part 2, we talked about what living with each system actually feels like (gadget fun vs. house upgrade). Today we’ll answer the question we hear most once homeowners have tried a DIY kit or two:

What does a professional Gemstone Lights install do that a DIY system simply can’t?

Short version: mounting, mapping, warranty, and worry. Long version:

1) Track vs. Tape: How the lights live on your home

DIY (Govee): Adhesive pads + plastic clips hold individual nodes along the soffit. It’s quick and clever. But it’s still a surface-mounted string. The lights are visible by day, and extreme heat/cold can loosen clips over time, which means you (or your ladder) will periodically re-seat sections.
